You must also register any time your personal or contact information changes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Those in Massachusetts who committed a sexual offense, must register with the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry. You must also update your information in the registry if you:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>have any secondary addresses in Massachusetts<\/li>\r\n<li>are moving to Massachusetts<\/li>\r\n<li>become homeless<\/li>\r\n<li>are working in Massachusetts<\/li>\r\n<li>live out of state, but attend school in Massachusetts<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p id=\"sex-offenders-with-secondary-addresses\"><strong>Registered Persons with secondary addresses<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>When registering with the Sex Offender Registry Board, you must include your address. You must also include any secondary addresses you have in Massachusetts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A secondary address:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>is anywhere you live or stay for at least 14 days during the year<\/li>\r\n<li>is anywhere you live or stay for at least 4 days in a month<\/li>\r\n<li>is not your primary address<\/li>\r\n<li>includes\u00a0out-of-state addresses<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If your primary address is not in Massachusetts, but you have a secondary address here, you must still register that address.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p id=\"sex-offenders-moving-in-or-out-of-massachusetts\"><strong>Registered Persons moving in or out of Massachusetts<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you are required to register due to a sexual offense and moving to Massachusetts from another state, you must register as with the SORB within two days of moving.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you live in Massachusetts and are moving somewhere else in the state, you must register your new address at least 10 days before moving.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you are moving out of Massachusetts, you must:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Notify the Sex Offender Registry Board at least 10 days before moving.<\/li>\r\n<li>Register with the appropriate office in any state you are moving to.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p id=\"homeless-sex-offenders\"><strong>Registered Persons who are Homeless<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>If you are a registered person living in a homeless shelter, you must verify your registry information every 30 days at your local police department.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p id=\"sex-offenders-working-in-massachusetts\"><strong>Registered Persons working in Massachusetts<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you are a on the registry in another state but working in Massachusetts, you must:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Register with the Massachusetts SORB within two days of starting your job.<\/li>\r\n<li>Register your work address within 10 days of starting your job.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you change jobs in Massachusetts, you must register your new work address within 10 days of starting your new job.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p id=\"out-of-state-sex-offenders-attending-massachusetts-schools\"><strong>Out of state registered persons attending Massachusetts schools<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you are a on the registry and living in another state but going to school in Massachusetts, you must register with the Massachusetts SORB within 10 days of starting school.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p id=\"penalties-for-failing-to-comply\"><strong>Penalties for failing to comply<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You will be prosecuted if you are a sex offender who knowingly:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Does not register<\/li>\r\n<li>Does not verify your registration information<\/li>\r\n<li>Does not\u00a0update any changes in your\u00a0address, work, or school<\/li>\r\n<li>Gives false information<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Punishments for first-time violations include:\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Between 6 months and and 2.5\u00a0years in a house of correction<\/li>\r\n<li>Maximum of 5 years in state prison, a maximum fine of $1,000, or both<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Punishment for repeat violations include a minimum of five years in state prison<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you committed a registerable offense, you must register with the Massachusetts registry (SORB) if you live, work, or attend school in Massachusetts.
